Overview
We went on couples ski holiday to Tignes Les Brevieres in early March 2024. We went for a week as a mixed ability group all in our mid-late 20’s and opted to stay in a private chalet.
We took a private transfer from Geneva to Les Brevieres usually takes around 3 hours, however, due to traffic linked to the French holidays our transfer took over 7 hours! We had the same traffic on the return transfer as well, so leave plenty of time to make it back to the airport.
The ski-Ing was fantastic, we had great weather, lots of snow and blue skies. The lessons available for the beginners in the group were good and Tignes had lots of availability for different levels of runs.
We were able to enjoy great ski-Ing, head to après and enjoy cards and games in the chalet in the evening. Overall a lovely way to spend quality time with friends.
Positives
Chalet was perfect, warm, comfortable and spacious for a group of our size. Has private sauna, large boot room for ski equipment.
- Tignes as a ski resort was great, lots of run options, and big resort.
- Ski-hire was easy, the rental shop was available just down the road
- Early March was great ski-Ing weather.
- 10 was a good group size, it was easy enough to have similar ski-Ing abilities in mini-groups, and still comfortably book tables for dinners out and lunch.
Drawbacks
We opted to be self-catered for. There was a local supermarket a few minute walk away which was well stocked, but the costs of this and effort of having to cook after a business day, wasn’t really justifiable, and in hindsight it would be easier and comparable cost wise being catered for (which our chalet did offer!)
- The transfer time took what felt like 2 days out of time we could have spent ski-Ing or doing other activities.
- The location of Les Brevieres in Tignes is quite low on the slopes. From memory it is located at 1500. This meant we spent quite a bit of time in the morning going up ski lifts to get to more central points on the ski slopes.
- Can be considered expensive compared to other trips with friends
Itinerary
Flew from Gatwick to Geneva (private transfer taken to chalet)
- Most Days spent Ski-Ing!
- Our chalet also had toboggans that could be used for free.
- Spent an afternoon in La Follie Douche and another at Cocorico’s Which was good fun and ideal for some après.
- We cooked most evenings, but there were a couple restaurants in Les Brevieres so we ate out twice the week we was there.
The cost of the trip was roughly £1800 per person but this included ski passes, flights from London, accommodation, food and drink.
